Parking
Once you've found us (find us) and after parking in the grounds of All Saints Academy opposite us, walk back across the road. For the infirm and less able we have a limited number of parking spaces in front of the building.
Welcome
You'll be welcomed by someone in the front foyer and given our weekly newsheet. If it is your very first visit we'll try and introduce you to someone who can show you around and make you feel at home. The main meeting hall isn't huge and holds about 200 people. The toilets are at the back of the church and we have a toilet for the disabled and baby-changing facilities.
What to wear
You'll see that people tend to wear anything from smart casual to jeans and t-shirt - for us it's the person that is important not what they wear or how they look - so just come and feel comfortable with us.
Babies and toddlers
If you have a baby or a toddler we do have a creche where you can leave your child with skilled helpers.
Children
Older children stay in the main service until about 11.15 when they go out to Kidz Church to have their own fun and time of teaching in different groups according to their age. Your own children can of course join in with what's going on.
What happens during the service
We aim to start at 10.30am and we have no fixed structure to our service although we usually start with about 45 minutes of worship. This is very free with guitars, keyboard and drums and the words are projected onto a screen at the front so we don't use song books or prayer books. Feel free to sit or stand as you like.
Often during this time of worship we may pray for each other or for other issues that are important and some people may go up to the microphone at the front and encourage us by saying what God has been doing in their lives recently or how their prayers have been answered.
After this time of songs and prayer we usually have a talk from the Bible (or sermon or whatever you like to call it) for about 30-40 minutes and so we tend to finish this part of the service just after 12 o'clock. The speaker is often our own elder or other church member or sometimes a visiting speaker from one of the churches we have links with.
We do take a collection but we don't expect visitors to contribute so please just pass the basket on to your neighbour. About once a month we have Communion (some people call it Breaking Bread or the Lord's Supper) when we share the bread and wine to remember Jesus dying on the cross and coming back to life again. This is a special event and the Bible says it is only for Christians; so if you know you are a Christian you can of course join with us but if you're not sure then don't take any bread or wine but just pass it on. There is no need to feel embarrassed; it's quite ok just to let it pass by.
Tea and coffee afterwards
After the service we have tea and coffee in the hall at the back of the church when we all have a good chat with each other. Please do stay and let us get to know you.
